The Disney Store Ltd. operates more than 200 retail stores in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Distribution to all European markets takes place from the European Distribution Centre (EDC) at Magna Park which commenced operations in 2000.
Since 2000 the business has grown significantly and although the basic layout has not changed, the operations have been adapted to match the changing requirements of the business. An end-to-end supply chain review concluded that the Magna Park location was satisfactory to meet the future needs of the business but that work needed to be undertaken to determine how to get the most out of the facility. The Logistics Business was therefore commissioned to work with The Disney Store team to review the warehouse layout and develop changes to enable the facility to meet future demand. Our work included helping the team undertake analysis of requirements, consider the various options for storage and picking and to prepare new layouts based on the existing rack structure. We also helped the team develop plans for how the changes could be implemented with minimum disruption to day to day operations.
