When Dalgety bought the pet foods division of Quaker Oats, the factory and warehouse facilities at the Southall plant had to be split between the two companies. THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS was asked to assist with this by developing plans for the way in which the new warehouse facilities would operate and by considering the traffic flows and vehicle management on the site. The work on traffic flows included a computer simulation to consider ways in which traffic congestion could be eliminated, particularly during the construction phase. We worked with both companies over a period of months until the changes had been completed and the two, separate operations were running smoothly.
