Food Miles - what can logisticians do about it?

THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS has produced a white paper on Food Miles - the study of how far food has to travel to get from the field to our plates. Up to now the food miles debate has been rather one sided with only the voices of environmentalists being heard. In large part though food miles is a supply chain issue. This white paper investigates the issues from a supply chain perspective and puts forward ideas for how logisticians could help to reduce food miles.
