Colgate-Palmolive had a target to achieve 90% perfect orders with continuous annual improvement. This meant that every task in the fulfilment of that order had to be carried out correctly, very nearly 100% of the time. Success in this required systems and processes to be reviewed and changed and it required training in new methods of working. Most importantly, success depended on a vision of the future being communicated to those who will make things happen, together with an understanding of how the changes impacted on operating functions.
