Background

Since its formation in 1991 THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS Limited has developed into one of the UK’s leading specialist logistics and supply chain consultancies with many ‘blue chip’ clients such as Argos, Boots the Chemists, B&Q, Computacenter, New Look, Procter & Gamble, Tesco & NHS.  The Company employs a highly experienced team of Consultants with a wide range of backgrounds and capabilities. All have practical experience of running or working within various aspects of the supply chain and this ensures that solutions are practical and achievable.

Industry Sectors

Whilst many logistics principles are transferable across industries, having specialist knowledge and experience of an industry sector enables THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS to quickly understand the Client’s requirements and bring our experience of these industries to the projects.

Retail Distribution

We have undertaken a range of projects for many of the High Street and Internet retailers including Argos, M&M Direct and Tesco.  Projects have included supply chain analysis, IT systems development, modelling and development of e-fulfilment operations and distribution centres.  In many of the projects undertaken we have continued to work with the retailers in project management and contractual roles.

Fast Moving Consumer Goods (including Food and Drink)

With our experience of companies like Estee Lauder, Kellogg’s and Pepsico we are able to undertake projects that range from European supply chain strategies and modelling through to detail design of manual and automated warehouse and distribution facilities.

Manufacturing

In this sector we have undertaken projects for engineering, chemical, pharmaceutical and electronics manufacturers.  These include WEG (Brazilian Manufacturer), Jeyes Group and Lifescan (Johnson & Johnson).  Projects have included International supply chains using multi-modal transport, inventory analysis across geographic regions down to the specification and selection of warehouse management software.

Public Sector

A wide range of work has been undertaken for organisations such as NHS, WRAP, Department for Transport, NATO and Envirowise.  Projects have included surveys, business analysis, supply chain development, conferencing and workshops.

Transport

Whilst transport forms a large part of many other sectors we also work specifically in the transport industry with companies such as TNT, Parcelforce and DFT.  This work includes the modelling of transport and distribution networks and the development of industry reports from survey work.

Financial Services

Projects have ranged from an organisation’s in-house requirements such as document storage through acquisition support to evaluating the supply chains and facilities of companies in which a financial institution has an interest.  Clients include Barclays, Cinven and JP Morgan.

Media and Publishing

Projects in this sector have ranged from supply chain transformation projects through system design and the project management for the implementation of warehousing systems Clients including Oxford University Press and Technicolor.

Construction Logistics

We have worked with many of the major construction companies in the UK and were the founding chair of the CILT Construction Supply Chain Forum.  As a result of our work in this area we have developed and continue to supply the industry leading application, “Zone Manager” for managing the access of vehicles and resources on busy construction sites.  Projects include Canary Wharf, Paternoster Square, Athletes Village for the 2012 Olympics, Salford Quays and the M1 motorway widening scheme.
