Barclay’s Bank

Barclays National Records Centre stores over 2 million boxes of documents on three sites in the UK. Each box contains up to several thousand unique items most of which are impossible to replace but which need to be accessed from time to time. The activities have grown rapidly in recent years as the Bank has centralised its operations and this has led to the need for greatly improved tracking and control systems and handling techniques. We worked with the Bank over a period of several years to introduce the changes which included new software, the introduction of bar coding and the use of radio frequency communications for put away and picking. We also designed new handling systems to allow much increased throughput and project managed their implementation. Barclays is just one of a number of our clients in the financial services sector.
