A DTI Funded Study at McDonalds
McDonalds have always be an innovative company and their smart thinking had reduced the on-site time for new drive-thru restaurant construction from 16 to 4 weeks, through the use of pre-fabrication. The Company is always looking to improve so it was keen to be involved in a new study aimed at improving the logistics of construction projects. The study was run by the Building Research Establishment with funding from the DTI. THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS acted as consultants to bring the best of contemporary supply chain management thinking to the project. The study focussed particularly on the supply and delivery of materials to site. It identified a range of possible improvements and cost savings, and in so doing realised opportunities in the management of this new-build supply chain.
